Increase in Mental Health issues at Workplace

Nowadays there is no workplace where you may not find employees suffering from mental health issues. According to research conducted globally, it was found out that an estimated 264 million people are suffering from depression, one of the leading causes of disability.

According to a survey done worldwide, the cost of mental illness was estimated at US$2.5trillion (RM10, 282trillion) in 2010 and is projected to reach US$6trillion (RM24.7trillion) in 2030. According to research conducted by the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the estimated cost was US$10.6bil (RM43.6trillion) for 2010 before which would rise to US$24.3bil (RM99.9bil) by 2030.

It has been predicted that mental health problems will become the second biggest health problem affecting Malaysians after heart disease by 2020 unless proper measures are taken to address the issue.
