Impact of psychosis and schizophrenia on mental health

Mental health and mental sickness can be a consequence of a number of emotional, psychotic and even physical distresses that are beyond the scope and control of an individual’s control. Psychosis is a syndrome or group of symptoms. Someone experiencing an episode of psychosis is having a ‘break’ with reality. Major symptoms of psychosis are hallucinations and delusions. Schizophrenia is a mental illness that causes psychosis, but schizophrenia also has other symptoms. And it isn’t the only cause of psychosis. In some cases, other mental illnesses cause psychosis, including depression, bipolar disorder, dementia and borderline personality disorder. Psychosis may come up during times of extreme stress, a major lack of sleep, or trauma.

Around 40 percent of the people around the globe have been suffering from one or another form of psychosis and 32 percent of them, without even knowing it. The major cause of being exposed to these diseases is mental and physical stress, lack of sharing with others, however, research suggests that these and most mental health issues originate from the loneliness that people do experience, and 80 percent of patients have witnessed the same.

Psychosis and schizophrenia are treatable.
